ANTHONY CHINEDU Want to come back to Kenya - Lawyer Says

The deported Nigerian businessman and reputed drug dealer, Anthony Chinedu, has filed an application through his lawyer Nelson Havi that might see him return to Kenya.

Havi has filed a habeas corpus petition before Judge Weldon Korir of the High Court in order to compel the State to produce his client/Chinedu in court for trial.

Several cases against Chinedu are still proceeding in court even though he was deported in early June.

Havi, for example, is representing Chinedu in a case that began in 2008. Today in court the lawyer argued that he has not been able to confer with his client because he was deported;
“Mr Chinedu has been deported from the country. That is why we have not been able to file an affidavit to explain why the matter was not prosecuted,” he said.

The matter will proceed on September 11th.

Chinedu’s deportation has led to the detention of 11 Kenyans and one Swede in Nigeria where they had gone to deposit him and two other Nigerians after they were kicked out of Kenya.

Chinedu has said the Kenyans will not be released until his properties in Kenya are returned to him.
