'I Wasn't Bribed In The Kenyan Presidential Petition' - Willy Mutunga

Judiciary Demands Justice From All Kenyans
Recently the Judiciary, and particularly the Supreme Court, has been the target of attacks from Kenyans. We have been the target of attacks, slander, libel, and outright indecent, vulgar, and unacceptable abuses (Tanzanians term such abuses MATUSI YA NGUONI). Indeed, today a Kenyan gleefully tweeted that s/he wishes I had died instead of the late Mutula Kilonzo. We are human beings and we hurt, too. We have families that are hurting because of these attacks.

For me the most hurtful allegation was that I had been bribed in the Presidential Petition. I did not know where to turn. I have never been offered a bribe in my life. I have no doubt in my mind that anybody who dares offer me a bribe, regardless of status, would be the first one I arrest under the Constitution and the laws of this land. I do not believe I should sue fellow Kenyans in defamation. All I can demand from Kenyans is justice that they demand of me and the Judiciary I head. We must give justice to each other in implementing our progressive Constitution.

I acknowledge that public service means accountability to Kenyans. However, the same Constitution Kenyans use to demand accountability of us, and they invoke it for the protection of their freedom of speech, and for their right to public participation, also demands justice for judges and magistrates. The Constitution does not decree that Kenyans are not accountable for their actions!

I urge Kenyans to give us justice! To do so is simple. If you have any evidence of our wrong doing the Constitution under its Article 168 allows you to petition the Judicial Service Commission for our removal. And if you do not have such evidence then give us justice, treat us as family, compatriots and fellow human beings!

I and the Judiciary demand justice from Kenyans at all times!'

The Winning Play - Kenya Drama Festivals

By: Drama Kenya Festivals.

The only play that would have competed with Kakamega High School favorably would have been the Butere Girls’ play: Shackles of Doom. Were it not for the controversy Butere generated before and during the festival it was obvious they would have competed Kakamega favourably in the secondary play genre. Produced by Dorah Okalla,Shackles of
Doom was easily the toast of the festival this year. To many keen drama observers who know the workings of Sirengo the drama CEO and his committee there was no way Butere could be given number one in Mombasa. NEVER. That left the door wide open for “The Tempest” produced by legendary Oliver Minishi. Others were, Menengai High School’s The Docker and Riara Springs’ Delta of Turmoil.

In the Kakamega play, a violent storm brews as two brothers compete to win over the heart of a beautiful woman. The aftermath of their quest is disastrous as the younger brother does all he can to marry the woman’s heart even if it means killing those against him.

The Tempest addresses thorny land issues in Kenya and takes an audit of lives lost and the reluctance by landowners and the Government to get a lasting solution to it.
Co-directed by Patrick Odhiambo, John Mitivi and Minishi, the cast of Edison Masinde, Kihiko Francis, Kevin Kiromo and Jonathan Rao impressed audience with their ability to improvise and naturally execute the text bringing it to life.

Kakamega’s dance Bushi depicts an exploitative scenario precipitated by an authoritarian government regime capitalising on an oil find. Unlike other oil discoveries that come with years of prospecting, the Bushi community’s find is accidental since theirs was a search for water through borehole sinking but bump into oil instead.

There is a striking thematic similarity with Butere Girls’ play Shackles of Doom and the Kakamega High School dance. At the end of the festival Kakamega came through as the indomitable kings of drama with a resounding win not only in play but also dance.

When it was announced that Bushi the dance by Kakamega High School had beaten Karima Girls’ Thayu and Kenya High’s Signecha, the talking drums of Isikuti started renting the air in the moonlit grounds of the Aga Khan hall Mombasa.

In Case You Get Involved In A Car Accident - For Insured Vehicles.

Car accidents or rather road accidents are unpredictable and usually occur when least imagined or expected. The biggest question is: What do you do if your car has been involved in an accident and you have been insured?

Do not rush into calling the Insurance Company and making a claim. First ensure you call a police officer to ascertain at the scene of accident that it really took place. Don't be in a hurry to leave the accident scene without the authority of the Police Officer (That is if you intend to seek for claim from your insurer).

Then go through the Checklist below before launching an Insurance Claim:

Fill in the relevant claim forms with accurate information.
Get a Police abstract.
Make copy of your Driving License.
Get A copy of your National Identification Certificate.
Get a copy of your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

You Must ensure that all above were handed to your Insurer when you took the cover. Find out the details of the other vehicle too. The Insurer, The Insurance Cover date and any other information that might positively aid in supporting your claim.

The lesser you minimize your car Insurance claims, the happier your Insurer will be and the more happy you will be on the road.
