In Case You Get Involved In A Car Accident - For Insured Vehicles.

Car accidents or rather road accidents are unpredictable and usually occur when least imagined or expected. The biggest question is: What do you do if your car has been involved in an accident and you have been insured?

Do not rush into calling the Insurance Company and making a claim. First ensure you call a police officer to ascertain at the scene of accident that it really took place. Don't be in a hurry to leave the accident scene without the authority of the Police Officer (That is if you intend to seek for claim from your insurer).

Then go through the Checklist below before launching an Insurance Claim:

Fill in the relevant claim forms with accurate information.
Get a Police abstract.
Make copy of your Driving License.
Get A copy of your National Identification Certificate.
Get a copy of your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

You Must ensure that all above were handed to your Insurer when you took the cover. Find out the details of the other vehicle too. The Insurer, The Insurance Cover date and any other information that might positively aid in supporting your claim.

The lesser you minimize your car Insurance claims, the happier your Insurer will be and the more happy you will be on the road.

The World's Memorable Speech - A Speech By Idi Amin Dada

"My Majesty Mr.Queen sir, horrible ministers, members of parliament, invented guests, ladies under gentlemen. I thank the Queen very plenty for what he has done to me & my fellow Uganda who come with me. I tell you i have eaten very much that am now fed up with malicious meal.

H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta Impressed at This Year’s Drama Festivals

The Kenya Schools and Colleges drama festivals staged a state concert for the president at the Mombasa State house.  President Uhuru Kenyatta encouraged Kenyan artists to constantly improve on their performances so as to benefit from the lucrative international market. The President said drama is a major income earner providing a variety of employment opportunities for the youth in the country. “It is encouraging that the festival showcased a cross section of participants drawn from Early Childhood Education Centres, primary and secondary schools, tertiary colleges and universities,” the president said.

Speaking during the State Concert of the Kenya National Drama Festivals, Kenyatta expressed satisfaction that the drama festival dwelt on key social economic and political challenges that are facing the society. He said in order to promote the performing arts, his government will construct an ultra-modern National Theatre with audio-visual live-links in Nairobi. During the performance at State House Mombasa, David Owira—a student at Highway Secondary School received a standing ovation for his performance in an oral narrative titled ‘Otonglo-time’, which left the President and the guests in stitches.

“My Government is committed to providing the youth with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to be relevant and competitive in the modern global economy,” he said when he hosted winners of the drama festivals at State House, Mombasa. He said he was encouraged by this year’s theme which is “Performance for National Healing and Reconciliation”. The president observed that the performing and creative arts are not only a unique medium of instruction but also an important tool in the social, political and economic development process. “Our various cultures and communities have benefited immensely from messages propagated through oral culture.

Five World Greatest Inventions From Africa

Charging shoes
Kenyan inventor Anthony Mutua has developed a rather ingenuous way of charging mobile phone – using the power of pedestrians. His invention comprises of ultra-thin chips of crystal which are fitted to the bottom of a shoe’s sole. As the user walks, it generates electricity through the pressure exerted when it is stepped on. The chips costs around $46, and charges the phone through an extension cable that runs from the shoe to the pocket. Recently the project has been granted $6,000 for further funding by Kenya’s National Council of Science and Technology, as well as the promise of mass production to reach out to a larger market.

Please call me
Everyday users of mobile phone technology are sometimes blissfully unaware that the Please Call Me service was invented in Africa. The service allows users who have no airtime to send a Please Call Me text message to any number to alert the receiver that they wish to be called back. While there has been some dispute as to who exactly invented the service, the fact remains that it was either created by an employee of Vodacom or MTN in South Africa. Both former Vodacom employee Nkosana Makate and ex-MTN employee Ari Kahn have laid claims to the invention, each with their own proof, but the matter is still being investigated in a South African court.

Cardiopad
The Cardiopad, a computer tablet that enables heart examinations like electrocardiograms (ECG) to be conducted at remote, rural locations, was created and developed by Cameroonian entrepreneur Marc Arthur Zang Adzaba. The device is most effective in areas where such crucial diagnostic tests have never been made available. While the device is currently only available in Cameroon, Himore Medical (the company who produces the device), is said to be in the process of marketing the unit in other African markets. According to recent media, “this innovation will allow many heart patients to receive a prompt diagnosis that was a luxury that they could not receive, at any price, if they were unable to travel to an urban center.”

M-Pesa
M-Pesa is a mobile-phone based money transfer and microfinancing service which was created for mobile operators Safaricom and Vodacom, in Kenya and Tanzania, respectively.
The ‘M’ stands for mobile, while ‘pesa’ is the Swahili word for money, and is currently the most developed mobile payment system in the world. According to online sources, the service was developed following a student software development project from Kenya in 2007, which was subsequently rolled out by Safaricom. The service is currently in use in Kenya, Tanzania, Afghanistan, South Africa, India and Egypt.

CAT scan
Being widely used in the medical field across the world, few patients know that when they lie down for a computed axial tomography scan, or CAT scan, the technology was actually invented by South African. While it was developed at Tufts University in the UK, the person responsible for the imaging equipment was South African physicist Allan Cormack and Godfrey Hounsfield of EMI Laboratories. Recognizing their major efforts in the medical field, the pair was awarded the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. According to online sources, “Cormack’s interest in the problem of X-ray imaging of soft tissues was first aroused when he took up the part-time position of physicist for a hospital radiology department. In the 1960s, he provided the mathematical technique for the CAT scan, in which an X-ray source and electronic detectors are rotated around the body, producing a sharp map of the tissues within a cross-section of the body.”

Kenya is going through a rare moment in its history replete with immense legal and political challenges, the country needed Mutula’s brilliance, open-mindedness and ability to reach out to others of divergent opinion. We stand with the family, the people of Mbooni he represented in the Tenth Parliament, those of Makueni whom he was to represent in the Senate, and the people of Kenya at this difficult moment.
