Mukhisa Kituyi Lands A Top UN Job

Dr Mukhisa Kituyi

Former Kenya Cabinet Minister Dr Mukhisa Kituyi has been appointed to head a major United Nations agency. 

Dr Kituyi is the new Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), becoming the first Kenyan to head a UN agency. He will also hold the title of Undersecretary General of the United Nations.
Dr Kituyi is a former Minister for Trade and Industry and former MP for Kimilili constituency in Bungoma. 
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and International Relations from Makerere University in Uganda, a Mster of Philisophy in Development Studies and a PhD inSocial Anthropology, both from University of Bergen in Norway.

Nairobi County Transitional Authority Coordinator Sho Dead

Nairobi County Transitional Authority Coordinator was Monday morning shot dead in cold blood in an attack near his residence in Tena estate, Nairobi.Police and witnesses say Eliud Baraza was walking from his residence at about 6 am when he was confronted by gunmen who demanded that he surrenders valuables he was carrying.

According to Buruburu police boss Hassan Barua, Mr Baraza was walking to where his driver was waiting for him when three gunmen who were waiting for him struck.

By the time the driver also arrived at the scene, the gang had shot him and grabbed a bag he had and drove off.

“It seems these are gunmen who knew him well and were waiting for him with a mission. There seems to have been a confrontation between the gang and the deceased before they shot him and escaped with whatever he had,” said Barua.

He added they are yet to know the nature of the valuables that he was carrying at the time of the attack. Barua said the driver had recorded a statement over the attack.

The police boss said they are yet to know the motive of the attack and that a major hunt on the killers was ongoing.

The Transitional Authority created the new positions in the devolved government structure, and the deceased was one of the officers appointed as transition co-ordinator in February this year for the Nairobi County.

The officials were drawn from the central government and local authorities, and were expected to set up key county structures to jumpstart the devolved government system. - Source Standard Media

Located on a lane just off river road and on the 5th floor of an old building that has no lifts, this is a place you will certainly not visit twice.The first thing that you notice after entering the club is this huge hall with terrible lighting. The joint looks like a church hall, only that there are counters and stripping poles. The VIP section is also a shitty area, but when you are paying 1 sok to enter, you can’t complain.

Kikuyu's Are The Most Democratic Tribe In Kenya - A New Study Reports

According to a report released by an independent body dubbed Kenya Yetu, members of the Kikuyu community are the most democratic people in the country.

 

The report which was released on Friday last week said members of the Kikuyu community allow different leaders from their community to contest for the same seat but eventually choose the “best” among the contestants.

 

The report gave an example of the last General Election where four members of the Kikuyu community vied for the Presidency but only one who was chosen by the community.

The four members from the Kikuyu community, who vied for Presidency include President
Uhuru Kenyatta, Peter Kenneth, Martha Karua and Paul Muite. President Uhuru Kenyatta was elected because he beat the other three in terms of credibility and popularity.

 

The report further says that it will take another 50 years for other communities to start practicing democracy as the Kikuyus do.

The Kenyan Police are on high alert and in pursuit of forty one mentally ill patients who are reported to have escaped from Mathari mental hospital.

Forty mentally ill patients have escaped from the Mathari Mental Hospital in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, after overpowering guards, police say. 

A search has been launched for the patients, some of whom are known to be violent, police told the BBC. 

Kenya's Standard newspaper reports that the group escaped from the state hospital after complaining that the medicine given to them was ineffective.

Mathari is the biggest psychiatric hospital in Kenya. 

In 2011, rights groups called for an investigation into alleged human rights abuses at the hospital following a CNN documentary "Locked up and Forgotten". 

The CNN crew reported that during a visit to the hospital, they found a dead body locked up in a seclusion cell with a patient. 

Senior Nairobi police officer Moses Ombati told the BBC the patients had staged a protest, before overpowering guards and escaping. 

The hospital reported the escape to police on Sunday, divisional police chief Samuel Anampiu is quoted by the Standard as saying. 

"We have all their particulars and including their pictures and that will make it easy for us to identify them," he said. - Source BBC World News (Africa).

Developing Story: Eleven Mombasa Women Caught Having S*x With A Dog Detained

Police in Mombasa are still holding the 11 girls and a foreigner who were caught in ‘ dogly act’. The Police have been granted three days by the resident magistrate to detain the culprits over an alleged case of exploitation and prostitution.

Initially there were allegations that the sexual act involved dogs, an assertion that could not be proved at the moment and the police asked for more time, to conduct comprehensive investigations.

The lawyer for the accused Lumatete Muchai however asked the court not to grant the investigating officers more time insisting they lacked evidence to prosecute the suspects.
