The Director, Surveying and Planning will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for coordinating surveying and planning functions including advising the Commission, the Chief Executive Officer and Management on all aspects and types of surveys and related planning tasks the Commission may wish to undertake.

    Demonstrated experience and understanding in various types of surveys and planning

Kenyan Graft Body Wants Kimemia Out

Head Of Public Service: Francis Kimemia

The anti-corruption commission has opposed the nomination of Mr Francis Kimemia as Secretary to the Cabinet.

The Saturday Nation Friday established that the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) had written to Parliament asking members not to approve the outgoing Head of Public Service’s nomination as the first holder of the position.

The commission argued Mr Kimemia had abused his current office and that he had been involved in corruption.

Political bias

Based on the letter, the parliamentary committee that vetted Mr Kimemia questioned him on allegations of involvement in various corruption matters, allegations of political bias, favouritism and nepotism.

He denied the allegations.

In particular, the committee asked about his role in the 2013 presidential campaigns in which he was accused of favouring one side. He denied the accusations.

Mr Kimemia promised to ensure recommendations of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission were fully implemented.

Mr Kimemia said he will fast-track the preparation of a Cabinet memo showing how the report will be implemented and bring it to the National Assembly within the next 21 days.

He told the Parliamentary Committee on Administration and National Security that according to the Constitution, the report has to be implemented within six months. 

He, however, said the onus was on the National Assembly to either approve or reject it.

Numerous Job Openings For Kenyan Graduates To Be Unveiled

Graduates in Kenya face a major challenge as they try to penetrate the job market as many companies opt to hire experience personnel.

In a bid to curb this, the government will publish a list of sectors experiencing shortage of manpower to help graduates and professionals find jobs.

Speaking during the Labour Day ceremony at Uhuru Park, Labour PS Beatrice Kituyi said the findings on Kenya's skill base would be unveiled next week to help employers, job seekers and students understand the job market.

Training institutions will also use the findings to produce graduates with the requisite skills to improve their chances of getting hired.

Among the key findings expected from the survey include the number of professionals in different fields against what the market requires and the average pay for different qualifications in both private and public sectors.

A lot of complaints from graduates have been heralded recently where the graduates say they cannot find work since companies are only hiring persons with two years and above experience. One can only hope that will graduates can catch a break this time around....Courtesy of Career Point Kenya
