Hon. Lady Justice Philomena Mwilu, Deputy Chief Justice and Vice President of the Supreme Court asked Nine (9) itchy questions during the siting of the 2022 Kenya Presidential Election Petition 

The nine (9) itchty questions asked by Lady Justice Philomena Mwilu are:

1. Clarify what is the constitutional role of the six commissioners under Article 140 of the Constitution. Juxta-pose their role against that of the secretariat and the chairperson.

2. The fact that numbers are undisputed, comment on the walking out of the four commissioners almost as the chairperson was almost to announce the results.

3. Does their walking out mean anything under Article 140? If it does why?

4. Did the postponement of eight electoral areas affect only presidential vote? Have the subsequent election returned a different result to the turn-out? If they have, in what respect?

5. What is the IEBC supposed to do when there are no agents for the candidates since Article 81 places burden of ensuring that we have a fair and free election on IEBC?

6. What is the position to be taken by a commission in an election dispute?

7. What is the role of the seven commissioners?

8. Is it a position to be taken by any party or neutral like IEBC? If they take a position as they have done in this case, what is the court to do?

9. Tell me what IEBC was supposed to do. On one hand they were being told to hurry up yet they still had another day?

4. Why didn’t he explain to Kenyans where the other commissioners had gone when he was making the announcement?

5. Why was the live streaming stopped?

6. How were Forms 34As in the petitioners’ affidavits photoshopped?

English Premier League Latest Results: Leicester United 0 - 1 Manchester United

A clinical finish from Jadon Sancho in the first half of the game was enough for Manchester United to see off Leicester City in the English Premier League played Leicester City's King Power Stadium.

English Premier League Latest Updates - Southamptom 2 - 1 Chelsea

Two goals from Southampton's Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstrong (scored in the 28th and 46th minutes respectively) were enough to see off a spirited Chelsea who could only manage a goal from Raheen Sterling's 23rd strike.

This will hel avoid the dominance of either UDA or AZIMIO La Umoja.

Nicholas Bett Being Burried Today

The late ex-world champion Nicholas Bett, who died in a grisly road accident in Nandi , Rift Valley, is being laid to rest today, Thursday 16^th August 2018. 

In attendance in paying Bett the last respects are Kenya's Deputy President, Hon. William Ruto, and a host of other government officials and dignitaries.

Bett flew the Kenyan flag high, becoming the first Kenyan to win gold medal in a 400M hurdles race at a world stage.

Having been re-elected by a landslide of more than 76% of total votes cast, Russia's President Vladimir Putin got another nod to became the country's President for a fourth term, on a six year term.

Notably, Putin faced no strong challenger in the polls, with the country's main opposition challenger Alexei  Navalny barred from contesting. This prompted the European observers to note that although the polls were efficiently conducted, there was deficit of genuine choice for the voters.

While congratulating Putin, Trump went on record stating that  "the arms race between the US and Russia is getting out of control... but we will never allow anybody to have anything close to what we have".

The Future Of Bitcoin And Other Cryptocurrencies

Many people believe that it's just a matter of time before the cryptocurrency bubble burst. Some insinuate that the cryptos are highly over-valued, and that many who've channeled their hard-earned money investing in the coins will most definitely reap negative returns, in the already near future.

Truth is, there is lack of adequate information surrounding the value/prices of cryptocurrencies, making it difficult to make a solid investment-related decision when investing in the coins. Four people have died on the spot while others  severely injured as a driver of a public service vehicle from Mombasa to Nairobi rammed into a stationary lorry at Salama - which is a long the Mombasa Nairobi highway.

The Kenyan Red cross and other emergency services providers arrived immediately at the scene and had been pivotal in helping take the injured to nearby hospitals.

The first family is in mourning following the death of President Uhuru Kenyatta's eldest sister Margaret Wambui.

Wambui was the eldest of two children of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and his first wife Nyokabi.

She died in a Nairobi hospital after a short illness , and was aged 89 years. She had no child and was never married at the time of her death.

She is in records as the first African woman mayor of Nairobi. She was the deputy mayor of Nairobi in the year 1966, and rose to Mayorship in the year 1971.

Every political pundit acknowledges that it will never be a walk in the park for the opposition to get the current government out of power. 

If you've ever followed Kenyan politics closely, one fact is now evident; the opposition will remain as strong as they continue to lack a presidential candidate! Well, this may sound stranger than fiction, but it's a fact.

The longer the opposition can stay whilst figuring who their flag bearer will be, the stronger they will remain. And if they can come up with a system where all the principals are treated as equals before and after elections, then they will definately give the new Jubilee outfit a good run for their money.  

And for the opposition to win the next elections, they must learn from Matiangi , and do things differently. It should never matter who carries their flag, as long as they remain united to a common course.

But the sad truth is, wasipojipanga, watazidi kupangwa.

Dedan Kimathi University of Technology  is hosting the beatification of Sister Irene Stefani who died on 31st October, 1930 in Gikondi, Mukuruweini in Nyeri County.

Beatification is a recognition accorded by the Catholic Church of a dead person’s entrance into heaven and their ability to intercede on behalf of believers who pray in their name. It is the third of the four canonization stages and an individual is given the title “blessed” following their beatification.

CORD Declines to Issue Nomination Certificates to ODM’s Homabay Defectors

ODM’s Homabay Senatorial Seat aspirants got a rude shock this week when CORD’s Deputy Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, announced that the coalition’s affiliate parties will not issue nomination certificates to other contestants in the forthcoming Homabay Senatorial elections.

Jamaican Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has been sentenced to life in prison

The Jamaican star, real name Adidja Palmer, was found guilty of murder on March 13 this year. Kartel and three of his associates were facing trial for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams back in November 2011.

According to Billboard, Kartel’s three other associates who were also found guilty of the murder were similarly handed life sentences.

A Kenyan man from Luanda village, in Kakamega county is reported to have sold his 53-year-old wife over a Sh900 debt to a 27-year-old man.But while Francis Kevogo’s wife says her husband sold her to the younger man to settle a debt, Kevogo cites a different reason.  

Aden Duale Threatens To Quit Jubilee Government Over Crackdown

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale Friday last week, threatened to withdraw support for the Jubilee government over what he termed as arbitrary arrests of “his people.” 

This is the first time Mr Duale, ranked high up in the government pecking order, has made unsavoury remarks about President Kenyatta’s government. 

“We stand by the interests of our people. There should be no doubt about that,” Mr Duale said Friday at a rally in Eastleigh attended by over 20 MPs and Senators from North Eastern, Coast and Upper Eastern regions.

A new salary structure has placed the President as the highest paid government official in Kenya while Resident Magistrates, Kadhis and Members of County Assembly have been ranked as the lowest-paid state officers. 

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) with the assistance of PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) — which conducted a job evaluation for all State offices — has created 112 state offices, up from the current 50.

Mr Alex Mbijjiwe, 35, had arrived back home early this week from Congo, where he works as an engineer, with big plans for yesterday’s lovers’ day.
